9 Developing This Living Book
Future additions will develop the tools teams need for a complete project: stakeholder interview scripts, design-review rubrics, project scheduling, cost models, prototyping strategies, FMEA-style risk analysis, and stronger case studies.
9.1 Suggested additions
- A short engineering economics chapter.
- A design-of-experiments introduction.
- Configuration management and reproducible modeling.
- Supplier selection and design for manufacture and assembly.
- An ABET-oriented reflection and evidence-organizing appendix.
The teaching emphasis will remain practical: connect each technique to an explicit design decision and the evidence needed to defend it.
Note
Living chapter. This is an initial working treatment. Derivations, examples, and references will be expanded in future editions.
